Eau Mega

Viktor & Rolf's new Eau Mega fragrance (omega, get it? and I love it!), as explained by top brass from International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) at a press conference in the penthouse of the Cooper Square Hotel earlier this week. Naturally, V&R themselves couldn't make it as they're too busy with their spring collection just around the corner.Viktor & Rolf see the Eau Mega girl as a super-heroine, able to "megafy" the world and "transform reality into her own universe of beauty and glamour."The campaign image, Raquel Zimmerman shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, is based on an old 80's ad that the duo found online of a woman standing over a city and owning it, but not in that power-80's way.The spritzer is activated by squeezing the big V&R golden seal—or "megamizer," designed by Fabien Baron—while the nozzle is just for show. Apparently that technology took two years to develop. This is taken straight from the press material: "We dreamt of an essence that could express a new feminine freshness. 'Eau' in French has a slightly surreal connotation for those who can read between the lines."The juice itself represents the duality of the V&R brand as a whole, i.e. edgy luxury, a mix of floral-fruity (think violet, basil, pear) and rich-creamy (think sandalwood, cashmere, white musk).Like Flowerbomb, Eau Mega is going to be a major entry in the fragrance market—just as the name suggests—when it launches in October.

Regardez Moi-étude nue

I have always been inspired by the photographic work of Helmut Newton. So here are some of his greatest hits and a few others that I found visually interesting.

Fixie Fix.

So I have finally began gathering the parts and pieces to build my bicycle. I was gifted an awesome vintage steel framed free-wheel bicycle from a long time friend, who's interest in cycling rubbed off on me. The world of the Fixed gear has grown by leaps and bounds over the past ten years. Once a world inhabited by big city bicycle messengers, you can now spot celebs like Pharrell Williams or the college aged hipster kid elegantly gliding between pedestrians, parked cars and of course moving traffic. The bicycles themselves are a type of art combining function and form. The NY Times recently reported on the growing trend in an peiece titled "A Meeting of Dervishes with Fixed Gears". But I digress, last week I received my B67 Brook Saddle in the mail so my bike will have a touch charm with and otherwise minimal apperance.

Regardez Moi:Jonny Make-up

Jonny Make-up is more than just that guy on the E! show Kendra that pops in occasionally. He has t-shirt at american apparel and refers to the creator of AA Dov Charney as "DADDY". My source at AA tells me there is no actual relation whatever the case his strong personal style grabbed my attention a few years ago as another face posing for the cameras at a Misshapes party. He is also a big supporter of Jeremy Scott so any who wears his clothes automatically get lots of cool points. I also love this collaboration Jeremy Scott has going with Longchamp. The newest design is called the "Red Hotline" bag which will be mine sooner than later.

Pop-Up Shops- Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton have surprised us with the design of their latest store: it's called Underground and it fits perfectly into the Japanese market. Underground has just opened in the Seibu shopping centre in Ikebukuro, Japan, a concept store that will only open for a limited period. This idea of the rouge luxury boutique is ironic due to the ever present counterfeit goods that can be in the Americas and abroad. But this shop is the real thing, its great to see that the worlds biggest brand still manages to have a sense of humor.

Interestingly, the store is located in the basement of the shopping centre - it feels like we're going into the storeroom. At first glance, the store looks like a warehouse, with all the typical icons of an industrial area. It has wooden boxes stacked one on top of the other, markings on the floor directing us to the various parts of the store, cranes, cones closing off certain areas, and all the French brand's exquisite creations. This latest Japanese creative project by Vuitton is a very interesting pop-up store, and the most fashionable warehouse i've ever seen.

Pop-Up Shops-Prada

Apollinaire was an Italian art critic and writer who developed his career in France. He was one of the most active members of the artistic district of Montparnasse, collaborating with people like Pablo Picasso and Jean Cocteau. His career featured writings on Cubist painting and works like Orfeo (1911) and Alcoois (1913).Only a brand like Prada could create a temporary store in Paris as a tribute to Apollinaire. The store is located in Place Beauvau, and it'll be open for the next five months. The whole store is inspired by the famous writer. The space was designed by Robert Baciocchi, and the spectacular facade is a reference to the image of Mirabeau bridge, the inspiration for one of Apollinaire's most famous poems. The silhouette of the bridge frames the store, while mannequins depict a scene from Paris in the early 20th century.Lilac and gold tones pervade the store, and the marble is from the first Prada store, established in 1913. This unique store is really worth a visit if you happen to be in Paris in the next five months.
